Using Commas in Dates and with Single Words Worksheets

Related ELA Standard: L.1.2.C

Core Standard

We often use commas in very formal settings. When we are working with dates commas should be used separate numbers and words; that is a general rule that I tell students. The week day and the month should be separated by a comma as well as the numbered day and the year. If a full date is present in the middle of a sentence, a comma should be present before and after the year number. No commas are necessary when you are only dealing with two elements of the date.
