We are constantly using adjectives to a sort of value to a noun. It can be something about the shape, size, condition, or just about anything that can heighten or lower the value attributed to the noun. Adjectives give us a better understanding of the subject of any sentence we write or read. The proper use of an adjective can set the mood for the reader. How to Make Sure You Are Using Adjectives Properly?


Adjectives are words that are used to describe or modify any name, person or thing. Adjectives help in adding more meaning to the nouns. They add details to the sentence so that the reader can get a broader idea about what they are reading.


The three articles (a, an, the) are also adjectives.
For example,
the small house
A great movie
an envious letter

A group of words is called an adjective clause if it has a subject and a verb.
For example,
My brother, who is much smarter than I am, is a scientist.
If the adjective clause does not contain either a verb or the subject, then it is known as the adjective phrase.
For example,
This is the woman who is cooking food for my family.


How to Position an Adjective?


In order to use adjectives in a grammatically correct manner, you need to know where to position it. Usually, adjectives are used right before the subject or the noun in the sentence. This method is used to avoid any confusion for the reader.


For example,
They have a beautiful house.
She drives a red car.
Lila is an adorable child.
Her dress was very pretty.


Degree of Adjectives


In order to make sure that you are using the right adjective for the noun, you must know about the degrees of adjectives. There are three degrees of adjectives known as positive, comparative and superlative.


Positive is the original form of the adjective.


For example,
He is a tall boy.
The comparative degree is used to compare two things.
For example,
He is the taller boy.
The superlative degree is used to compare three or more things.
For example,
