These stories are usually intended to be written for children. They envision the magical world setting of wild fictional characters. Many fairy tales that are told today span many different generations. They don't just exist in written language, many have been passed on in oral form only. The existence of a tooth fairy and leprechauns are evidence of that. While many people may just view them as stories that are fun for youngsters, they can very impactful. It provides a safe vehicle for students to explore hot button issues and allows them to two view both sides of an issue through the eyes of characters within a fictional story. These worksheets will examine many well known forms of these moral driven stories with students.

What Are Fairy Tales?


A fairy tale is a story for the children that includes wondrous elements. These stories are fiction based and have no connection with reality. In most of these stories, you will see fanciful features and characters such as wizards, prince, princess, goblins, fairies, and elves. The term fairy in the phrase refers to the magical element of the story. These stories are based in a fantasy world where magic prevails. Most fairy tales are traditional and have been passed down by storytellers. Only a few years back, these fairy tales found their way to mainstream cinema and books. Some have existed for hundreds and thousands of years.


You can easily identify a fairy tale if it takes place in a magical land where unrealistic creatures perform crazy tasks. You might have heard a lot of these forms of stories in your early years. You may know a few stories that match this genre,

Importance


Many people do not realize the importance of fairy tales. The first and most obvious fact is that kids simply get engaged when it comes to a fictional story that transports them to a different reality. This ultimately puts them in a mode to improve their literacy and it encourages them to develop their language skills. These stories often involve a problem that creates an opportunity for the characters to solve the problem themselves. This is the perfect opportunity for children to develop their own problem-solving skills by following the model of the character.


These stories are very essential as they light up one's imagination. They let you experience the things that you might not be able to experience in real life. This allows students to explore many different concepts that may be completely foreign to them. You will consistently see themes of the world as a frightening place in these types of stories. The concept of grief, friendship, and mental toughness are often explored. It is not easy to do this in a classroom setting useless it is illustrated for us. This can help students begin to understand emotions that they do not experience in their own lives. They simply open the doors of exploration whether it be cultural, diversity, or just about anything that is considered racy or controversial. Those hot button topics are exceedingly difficult to have an open discussion about, but these stories create the perfect environment to allow us to begin the dialogue.


These stories are known for their unpredictability. Anything can happen. Often, they begin with a great deal of action or a stellar problem that the characters must work around. These problems often reflect the real world and help us better understand the world around us. They are a safe medium for students to learn about things that they may eventually have strong feelings about. This may allow them to understand and value both sides of an issue in a way that is difficult to even approach in any other manner. They let you dig deeper and help in the formation of amazing ideas. This factor helps you in finding solutions in your real life.


Another significant factor that comes along with these fictional stories of fantasy is that they often display that good always wins out over evil. Explore morals are often the premise of most of these tales. Yes, they help us teach students quality habits that they should expand into their lives, but they also provide students a sense of hope. Hope is something that we all need regardless of age. It is why we wake up every day and get after it. Anytime you get the opportunity to give students realistic hope, you should take it.

There are some important elements of fairy tales that you see in almost every fairy tale. One is a good character. This character wants to do something good for the world. The other one is the evil character who will stop the good. Other elements are royalty, magic, wizardry, poverty, and recurring numbers.
