When reviewing a work for grammar errors there are many different levels to this process. Everyone has a slightly different approach, but the core process remains the same. I often start with looking for any errors that may be present in the subject verb agreement and this usually focuses on if the singular or plural tense was used properly. In some cases it can lead to tense change. The next most obvious deviation from this is the use of fragmented sentences. Fragments can jam everything up.
