When we have completed writing a work it often helpful to make sure that we presented our argument in a logical and understandable way. To do this involves a process that has you first making sure that all the sentences in a paragraph are directly related. If a sentence seems out of place, see if it would fit better with another placement or even within a different paragraph. These worksheets will have students evaluating the placement of sentences within a body of work.

You will find the question of rearranging sentences in most worksheets and tests. These types of questions have jumbled up sentences that you will have to arrange in the right order. Here are some tips that will help you in rearranging sentences.


Know the theme


In order to solve such types of questions, you will have to know the theme of the paragraph. The theme will give you hints on how to arrange the sentences in the right order. You can take a look at the words that are often repeated in the paragraph and then arrange the sentences accordingly.


Sentences starting with certain words


One of the most useful tips in arranging sentences in the right order is to look at the first word of the sentence. If a sentence starts with words like this, that, these, those, whose, etc., then it is evident that the sentences will definitely not come first in the order. This is because these words are talking about a specific subject that has been introduced before in the sentences.


On the other hand, if a sentence starts with words like a, an, or the, then it is most likely that the sentence will come first. This is because they will introduce a specific subject that has not been talked about before.


If there is a sentence that starts with, therefore, hence, or finally, then this sentence would come at the end. The reason behind this is that it marks the conclusion of a topic. That is why it should be placed at the end.


The sentence starting with a name
