Some people love writing pieces that involve their own opinion and other people dread it. I always find something in common with both those personas though; starting off an opinion piece is difficult either way. You do not want to give too much away in your introduction and you don't want to not give too little information in that the reader doesn't understand your position. These worksheets help students begin to learn how to write deep introductions.

How to Focus Your Opinion Writing?


Ever heard the old saying that great minds think alike? It's because smart people make heavy use of their own thinking and analyzing skill sets to form and draw a conclusion. Their opinion is worth all the pennies to influence others because they are sure of their opinion.


Thus, great pieces of opinion writing tend to influence and convince readers to either change their opinion or at least think about the subject to promptly match the writer's opinion. Opinion writing is one of the core principles to support various professional and academic writing styles. It may help write newspaper columns, editorials, opinion pieces, magazine, thesis, proposals, and reviews.


Structure of an Opinion Essay:


An opinion essay or write-up is solely focused on persuading your target audience. Therefore, it needs to be drafted in a well-planned and reasonable manner. Follow this general structural format to create an impeccable opinion essay.

1. Begin with writing an introduction to outline your subject and your stance with the context.

2. Now that you have revealed your stance, write approximately 3-4 body paragraphs with supporting facts, figures, statistics and evidence to support your stance.

3. Conclude your essay by forming a broader picture and proper synthesis of ideas.


Focus On Your Opinion Writing:


Now that you know everything about opinion essays, it is the time to resolve the all-time mystery of keeping your explanation concise and focused while drafting an essay. Thus, these three tricks are surefire ways to guide your focus while opinion writing

1. Writing an introduction:

An introduction should start off with a powerful punch line which functions as a base to write further context in support of your argument. You can start an intro with a rhetorical question, any strong evidence or strong assertion of opinion to ensure your reader that your opinion is accurate. You can add context with the background information and details about the subject matter at hand. Start your essay with a thesis statement that works as a defender for your entire follow up essay.

2. Writing Body Paragraphs:

Include 3-4 body paragraphs and each of it focused on major points to support your thesis statement. The points should be supported by accurate analysis or real evidence. Evidence can be counted in the form of media, statistics, quotations, and text. Use rhyming and influential words to connect the idea in your body paragraphs to form a smooth and clear thought out analysis. Ensure the flow of ideas is comprehensible and logical in nature for readers.

3. Persuasive Conclusion:

After proving your arguments, it's time to conclude and form a bigger picture. Like every persuasive essay, you should make a final plea to convince your reader with your opinion.
