There are words that come up often when we are talking to other people. There are words that we can use to persuade people and other words to provide information. Certain words can be used to establish a level of ethos and trust for you within the audience. Words such as "because” and "if” indicate that you have a handle on the subject matter and have come across this before. These worksheets will help you supercharge your next conversation.

Conversation Words Worksheets:

Medieval Vocabulary – Match the meanings of the bold words with the multiple choice words.

Alien Root Words – Which spaceship gets it right?

Native American Vocabulary Practice – These are some higher level words for you.

"Roots" the Meaning – Match the woodland creatures to their stump.

Baby Animals – Find the name of baby animals (cygnet, kid, joey, kit, foal, calf, gosling, and fawn).

What is Conversational Vocabulary?


The purpose of conversational vocabulary is evident by the name. Conversational vocabulary is typically used in speaking and conversational writings. One must constantly work on expanding his conversational vocabulary to enhance communication skills. Know-how of this specific type of vocabulary is necessary for individuals who have to deal with a number of people in personal and professional life. Students should be taught conversational words and expressions at an early age to boost their English speaking skills. Below are different ways teachers and parents can teach conversational vocabulary to students.


Vocabulary Bank


Teach the concept of conversational skills to students before moving on to assignments. During this process, hand them a list of conversational vocabulary words which are used in our daily lives. Students can refer to the vocabulary list when doing assignments and projects.


Reading Exercises


It's a universal fact that reading makes a significant difference to one's vocabulary. People who read more, know more words and phrases. In order to teach conversational skills to students, provide them with conversational pieces of writings to read. Reading will also help students with proper usage of conversational words and sentences. Moreover, you can also ask them to underline and write all the conversational expressions in their notebooks to make the entire learning process easy.


Writing Exercises


Dialogue writing is one of the most common ways to help students learn conversational skills. Instead of giving a specific topic, tell them to write a dialogue between two characters. When it comes to conversational writing, forced topics might affect the flow of words. Therefore, let students pick a topic of their choice. Provide them with topics once they understand the art of conversational writing.


Group Exercises
