It may not be fun, but many times we need to convey instructions to other people to make sure that they perform something in an exact sequence. If we slack on how we convey this information, it could have disastrous outcomes. The most common way to approach this is to list every phase in the order it needs to be performed. Sequential (Procedural) Writing Tips


Sequential or procedural order refers to the steps in an event or accident. Procedural or sequential writing instructs the readers regarding how they can complete a task or process. Procedural or sequential writing technique is used in stories, essays, and other written content. If one wants to enhance his or her writing skills, he or she must have a full grip on sequential writing. In some cases, it is mandatory to write in sequential order. Given below are some tips that will help one to achieve the skills for sequential writing:


Creating an Outline


First thing you need to do to while writing sequentially is to create an outline. Include all the ideas in an outline and then arrange these complex ideas in sequential or procedural form. Revise the outline and rearrange the steps you need. Follow the order of steps written in outline while writing the main body of the content.


Introducing Ideas Briefly


After creating the outline, write the introduction of the sequential writing content. Introduce all the ideas or steps to be discussed in the same order that have been followed in the outline. Keep the introductory part as brief as possible with the use of simple and easily understandable vocabulary.


Writing the Main Body


After the introduction, start writing the main body of the content. Explain all the ideas step by step following some specific order. Be brief and clear and care for the spellings, grammar, and punctuation marks. After completing the main body, revise and review it again and change the order of steps if you feel the need to.


Drawing Conclusions


After writing the main body of the content following all the rules and regulations, start concluding. In sequential writing, it is preferred to conclude each step separately. In the end, you can combine them all in a single paragraph or can list them in points.
