What Is Europe?

Many years ago, when there was not much life on earth as of today, the huge landmass of the world was divided into seven parts. The whole process is known as the continental drift as it resulted in the formation of continents. It divided the world into seven continents. The seven continents are Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Australia, and Europe. Europe is the continent that is situated completely in the northern hemisphere of the world. Most of the places in Europe are also a part of the eastern hemisphere. In the north, Europe shares a border with the Arctic Ocean. In the west, the border of Europe is shared by the Atlantic Ocean whereas the western side of Europe is attached to the Mediterranean Sea. The continent of Europe is quite huge. It has almost fifty countries. Around 740 million people live in Europe combined. Only the 44 countries out of 50 have their capitals in Europe. The rest of the countries have their capitals in either Asia or Africa. The largest country in Europe would be Russia. This is because Russia covers more land than in other countries. However, some parts of Russia are also included in Asia. Other than Russia, Ukraine and France are also amongst the largest countries of Europe.

The largest city in Europe is Moscow, which is in Russia. The smallest country in Europe is the Vatican City. It is also the smallest city in the world. The Vatican City is an enclave within Italy. It has the lowest population and landmass in Europe. However, this place is considered as a very significant place. This is because the pope resides in the Vatican City. The Vatican City is also a popular tourist destination.
