CVCe (Silent e) Worksheets

The consonant-vowel-consonant-final e (CVCe) spelling pattern is found quite frequently in many works that children will read. This category of terms is often referred to as Silent e words. The phonics rule set for this category tells us that the ending of the word should exhibit a silent sound. This takes place very often in words that contain long a, long I, and long o. This assortment of worksheets will help students learn to identify these words and understand the pronunciation that follows.
CVCe (Silent e) Worksheets:
Naming Pictures - Say the name of each picture. Write the word. Then add e to what you wrote to create a new word. Use the pictures as clues.
Sort It Out! - Now add an e to the end of each CVC word you completed to form a long vowel, silent e.
