The consonant-vowel-consonant-final e (CVCe) spelling pattern is found quite frequently in many works that children will read. This category of terms is often referred to as Silent e words. The phonics rule set for this category tells us that the ending of the word should exhibit a silent sound. This takes place very often in words that contain long a, long I, and long o.
