As with any good student of the truth, all people eventually ask questions to gather information towards their search for an answer. Questions words help us learn more about anything. Questions often lead to two paths of response for anyone that is interviewed, either an affirmative or a negative. This selection of worksheets works towards presenting questions that lead to a positive response. When asked, with the right tone, a question can lead to an expected response.

Using Question Words Worksheets To Print:

Wh-Question Words – Don't let the title fool you! "How" is included in the set.

Who, What, Where, When, Why, How – It's all about filling the gaps to make easy flowing sentences.

Wh- word Tic-Tac-Toe – A fun two-player game for teachers and students.

How? Questions – These types of questions give students the most trouble.

What Are the Most Commonly Used Question Words?

There are certain words in the English language that are specifically used to question. These words are known as interrogative words. Interrogative words usually start with "wh". You can teach children this technique to identify question words. However, the following are the most commonly used interrogative words.


WHO


'Who' is an interrogative word that is most commonly used in the English language. 'Who' is the word that is associated with a person. The most common answer to this interrogative word is usually the name of a specific person. You ask this question when you want to know the person behind a certain action. For example:


Who made the bed today?


Who will be the chief guest at tomorrow's function?


Who has the most apples?


WHERE


'Where' is another very common interrogative word. It is used to question the location or place. You ask this question when you are interested in knowing a specific position of the place. The answer to this question is also the name or explanation of a certain place or location. For example:


Where is the event tonight?


Where did you put my pen?


Where will we be celebrating your success?


Where did you buy this dress from?


WHY


'Why' is an interrogative or question word that is associated with reason. This question is mostly asked when you are interested in getting an explanation for something. The answer to this question is often detailed and contains a specific reason for a specific action. For example:


Why did you leave the tap on?


Why are you going to the party?


Why did you not tell me about that incident?


WHEN


This interrogative question is associated with time. It is asked to get to know about the time or occasion. For example:


When will you leave for the function?


When will you return?
